An Afternoon at the Zoo

Family Zoo Membership………………..$79

Drinks and snacks………………………..$14

Stuffed toys for Tater Tot……………..$42

Seeing the animals through a toddlers eyes…………Priceless.

Tater Tot loved the sea lions.

He wanted to see the Komodo Dragons, but not without his Daddy close by.

We have two Pandas at our zoo.  When the weather is warm, they’re inside their playrooms.  Hopefully the weather will cool off pretty soon and they’ll be able to go out into their yards and romp and roll around!

The zoo’s newest exhibit is The Northwest Passage, and it is wonderful.  Our son was thrilled at being able to see the polar bears swim under water.  (Okay.  We were, too.)

We forgot to pack a hat for Tater Tot, and since his hair is, er, not thick, we do worry about his little head getting sunburned.  We popped into the gift shop, and here’s the hat that he picked out for himself.  Love it!

The zoo has a a train that runs through a farm exhibit.  I can’t even count how many times we rode it.  But I’m pretty certain that we paid that nice young man’s salary for the day.

If you find yourself in the Memphis area, I highly recommend visiting our zoo. It’s clean, the exhibits are wonderful, the people are friendly, and unless Tater Daddy is with you, you probably won’t spend nearly as much in the gift shops.  He just happens to be a big pushover.

That looks like a great time! I think it’s high time we get ourselves over to the zoo. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been. That’s always fun.

Thanks for sharing some great pics.

Here via Can I Get A Witness? Sea lions are so playful – I love watching them. One time, I went to the San Diego Zoo right after they had polar bear cubs and they were so playful, I stayed in the viewing area for a good half hour and had to be pulled away.

Carly’s grandparents give her a family zoo membership for Christmas since she was 10 months old. So, we have been a lot and love it. We hardly EVER go into the gift shop and we usually pack our on food in the backpack. We are such cheapskates :o) but that is one of the things I love about the zoo is that you can bring in your own food.

LOVE the Memphis zoo. Of course you have to stay focused and make no eye contact as you make the trek that way, but once you get there, it’s great. Northwest Passage is our FAVE! That reminds me, it’ time to renew the membaship
