You Can’t Beat it for $14.99

David and I went to Costco last week because we love to be suckered into buying things like 40-pound bags of coffee and 9-pound bags of sugar.  We were actually there to return something but everyone knows that you can’t go into Costco and not look around.  It’s like we’re all under some sort of bulk-buying spell.

Anyhoo, after we picked up about 29 diet cokes, which is a week’s supply for us, we wandered down an aisle and spotted an excavator/dump truck set for $14.99.  Tater Tot’s birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, so we got it for him and promptly hid it in David’s Jeep on top of everything else we bought.  Because we’re smart like that.

Later in the day we loaded up the boys to run some more errands.  When we got home, Tater Tot spied “sumping” in the back.  And he started to squeal.  I have the same reaction when someone else vacuums the house, but that’s neither here nor there.

So we were busted in the birthday department and gave it to him/he confiscated it early.  He immediately put on the construction helmet and hauled his “exserbator” and truck outside.  He was beside himself.

He was hard at work until we made him come in for a bath before supper.  He was up at 6:00 the next morning ready to go back out and play in the dirt, at which point I started rethinking our purchase.  But after a cup or four cups of coffee, I remembered that he’s only four (two weeks shy), and the time will come sooner than I’d like when that little boy will no longer want me to watch him as he plays in the dirt.

I figure $14.99 was a small price to pay.

That’s so true…time really does seem to fly when it comes to little people. They turn in to big people so quickly! He really seems to be enjoying his early b-day present! You don’t tend to think of kids smiling to themselves while they play by themselves, but he seems more than mildly amused by his dirt truck!!

Clearly moving to this new position is cramping my “blog reading” style! I haven’t been by in a sweet forever. I won’t comment on all the posts I missed, so I’ll do one big, combined comment.

This post: bless his little hard hat wearing heart!
Praying to God: Been there (the praying for what you want and not having it happen part).
Turing 40: I don’t even want to think about it (it’s knocking on the door!)
